Atalanta’s manager Gian Piero Giasperini has heaped praises on Nigerian star forward Ademola Lookman. Speaking ahead of Wednesday’s UEFA champions league clash with German side Stuttgart, the 66-year old manager praised the forward for his development.
“He has had a fantastic evolution. Lookman already did well alongside Rasmus Holjund, then had Gianluca Scamacca and De Ketelaere as partners before Retegui, he continued,”At this moment, he is among the top players in Europe and that means on the world stage too.”
Lookman who has won the Club’s player of the season prize for the past two seasons and was recently voted 14th in this year’s ballon d’or has developed into one of the biggest stars in football since his arrival.
Giasperini also said,”He is still in running to win the Africa Player of the Year Award but the most important thing is his evolution and consistency.”
Lookman scored 17 goals and provided 10 more assists in 45 appearances last season including an outstanding man of the match performance as his hatrick propelled Atalanta to a convincing 3-0 victory over Bayer Leverkusen in the Europa League Final as they secured their first ever European trophy. He has continued the impressive form into this season with 7 goals and 5 assists in 12 games including an impressive first half four goal contribution against Hellas Verona.
Lookman will hope to continue his brilliant form into the season on Wednesday night.
