Spanish striker Alvaro Morata has been hospitalized after clashing heads with teammate Strahinja Pavlovic during a training session on Thursday.
Morata has had a decent start to life at AC Milan since his €13 million transfer from Spanish club Atletico Madrid during the last summer transfer window.
The 32-year-old, who was part of Spain’s 2024 Euros-winning squad, has registered three goals and two assists in 12 games so far. He even scored in their 3-1 bashing of Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday.
Unfortunately for him, he was involved in an incident on Thursday. According to GFNS, he clashed heads with Pavlovic during an AC Milan training session on Thursday and had to be rushed to a hospital afterwards to prevent any serious injury.
After initial tests were done, nothing serious was detected. Nonetheless, he was asked to remain in the hospital for further evaluation.
As it stands, it is unknown whether Morata will be available for selection for AC Milan when they travel to Unipol Domus to take on Cagliari in the Serie A this weekend. Also, his participation in the upcoming international break with Spain is in the balance.
If the Rossoneri have to play without him. They have a decent backup in Tammy Abraham, who has not gotten enough playing time and will be looking to prove himself to coach Paulo Fonseca.
For Spain, coach Luis de la Fuentes has other options like Joselu, Mikel Oyarzabal, and Ayoze Perez. He could even hand in-form Samu Omorodion a first call-up to the national team.
