Manchester United’s interim boss Ruud Van Nistelrooy has hailed 22-year old winger Amad Diallo’s work in training as ‘incredible’ after his brace powered the red devils to a 2-0 victory over Greek champions PAOK.
The young forward scored twice in the second half as Manchester United secured a first victory in Europe in over a year.
“I think Amad made a difference for us today, obviously because of his goals, but he was sharp,” Van Nistelrooy said in his post-match conference.
“In the first half, he was one of the few that were at his level, so well done to him, good game.”
Although this was his first start under Van Nistelrooy, the interim boss revealed that Amad was not disappointed by his lack of opportunities but has been asking for training sessions to improve his game.
“He’s been incredible actually [in training]. Every time, he was never affected by not playing. He was always training well, always staying on the pitch, doing extra bits.
“‘Let’s do more, Ruud, let’s do more.’ We did a lot of work before when he called me.
After three consecutive draws, a looping header and a deflected effort from the young Ivory Coast forward, sealed the comfortable victory for Manchester United to give them a first Europa League win of the season.
Amad will be hoping his man of the match performance gets him a starting berth in this weekend’s Premier League match against Leicester City and will be looking to impress new head coach Ruben Amorim who will join the team on November 11.
