Real Madrid legend Zinedine Zidane could take up the France coaching job if Didier Deschamp leaves the position soon.
France have been in fine form since then 2022 FIFA World Cup, but there has been a little lull as seen in the 2024 Euros. Les Bleus lost to Spain in the final, but it was a labored run to the final for them.
Due to their recent struggles, in recent months there have been calls for Didier Deschamps to leave the job. The matter has been further exacerbated, as it seems that he has fallen out of favour with some France stars.
Kilian Mbappe has been omitted from the French squad for the past two international breaks. And even though Deschamps has denied the rumours, GFFN reports that Kylian Mbappe is even considering retirement due to the current situation of things.
Asides from Mbappe, some other members of the squad appear to be fed up with Deschamp, and the French FA may be looking to move him on after 12 years on the job.
If that happens, GFFN reports that Zidane is the top choice as his replacement. Recall that the 52-year-old retired France international has been without a job since he left the Real Madrid coaching role in 2021.
However, the problem will be convincing Zidane to take the job. He has turned down offers from some of the top sides in Europe in the past two years, and his plans are still unknown.
Nonetheless, if the French FA can pull the deal off, it would be a big heist for them.
