Luis Enrique delighted by PSG’s ‘extremely efficient’ performance in Angers victory

Paris Saint-Germain head coach Luis Enrique was delighted by his side’s clinical performance as they efficiently dispatched Angers 4-2 at the Stade Raymond Kopa to return to winning ways.

Following a disappointing 2-1 Champions League loss to Atletico Madrid earlier in the week, PSG responded with a commanding first half, scoring all four goals to maintain their unbeaten league record.

The team delivered an impressive attacking display, generating 3.5 expected goals (xG) from 26 shots, 12 of which were on target, and even hitting the woodwork.

Enrique, who previously labeled his side ‘unlucky’ in the final third, noted the visible improvement in their attack.

“It was a very complete game for our team. It was a game with a lot at stake. We were extremely efficient,” Luis Enrique told a news conference.

“The blockage we talked about earlier is going to end sooner or later. We’re in a process of improving.”

Les Parisiens top Ligue 1 with 29 points, holding a six-point advantage over second-placed Monaco. However, they have had to endure tougher circumstances in Europe, sitting 25th in the 36-team standings halfway through the group stage.

Nonetheless, Luis Enrique remains confident that his team will demonstrate their quality in Europe’s top club competition to turn around their recent poor form.

“This team has good players. The quality is there. No matter who’s on the pitch, even the newcomers,” he said.

“Maybe it is a question of pressure [in the Champions League]. But we’re going to score a lot of goals. The quality is there to rise to the challenge. It’s all in our hands.”
