Portuguese gaffer Ruben Amorim has revealed his excitement to reunite with Uruguayan midfielder Manuel Ugarte as he steps into his new role as Manchester United’s head coach.
The tactician is slated to resume on November 11 and has expressed particular excitement about reuniting with Uruguayan.
United fans are hopeful for a turnaround in form. They look forward to Amorim’s debut, which will be away against Ipswich Town after the international break.
Amorim, who leaves Sporting Lisbon for Old Trafford, replaces Erik ten Hag following his exit amid a series of lacklustre performances.
His arrival is viewed as a potential new chapter for United, where interim coach Ruud van Nistelrooy has been holding the reins temporarily and has bid his goodbyes today.
In a recent interview, Amorim shared his anticipation for working with Ugarte, who joined United from PSG but has yet to establish himself fully at the club.
“All the Uruguayans I managed are incredible, and that’s why I love all Uruguayans” he stated to TNT Sports via MEN. “Ugarte is a very talented boy and has a lot of room to grow. I am very happy to know that I have him back at Manchester United,”
Though Ugarte’s initial opportunities under Ten Hag were limited, he’s seen more minutes with Van Nistelrooy’s guidance.
Now, the midfielder is eager to make his mark under the new manager and to thrive in the Premier League with Amorim’s mentorship.
