Newcastle United has entered the race to sign Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen, with the club reportedly prepared to activate the Nigerian striker’s £113m release clause.
The Magpies are among several clubs like Chelsea, Paris Saint-German, showing interest in Osimhen, who is currently on loan at Galatasaray from Napoli.
Since joining the Turkish giants in September, Osimhen has been in exceptional form, scoring eight goals in nine appearances across all competitions, including six goals in six Turkish Super Lig matches.
His recent performance came in Galatasaray’s 3-2 win over Samsunspor, where he netted twice, helping the team extend their lead at the top of the Super Lig.
Despite his success, the Yellow-Reds are reportedly facing financial challenges in meeting Napoli’s hefty asking price for the Nigerian goal poacher.
To secure his signature on a permanent deal, the club is seeking financial support from a Chinese bank, per reports from Turkish Media outlet, Nexus.
Galatasaray had earlier considered offering Yunus Akgün to the Gli Azzurri as part of a deal to reduce the cash payment for the Nigerian striker.
Although financial barriers remain, Osimhen’s strong connection with the Galatasaray fans has led some to believe he could extend his stay in Turkey.
With Newcastle now joining the race, the competition for the striker’s signature is heating up, leaving his future uncertain as clubs continue to vie for his services.
