Nigeria forward Kelechi Iheanacho has revealed he is confident that the Super Eagles will secure qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Nigeria are currently fifth in Group C with 3 points from 4 games and are currently 4 points adrift of group leaders Rwanda with six games to spare with only the group winners assured of automatic qualification.
The Super Eagles are yet to record a victory as they have drawn three times and lost to Benin Republic. However, the Sevilla forward has said that the team will approach the remaining games with utmost concentration.
“We must go with red eyes and win all these games. This is World Cup qualifiers and we know how big it is. And now we have how many draws? They are the ones ahead in the World Cup qualifiers and they are down here”, he said.
Nigeria must secure at least a second place finish in the group to keep their hopes of qualifying for the international event alive and Iheanacho has insisted they will be well prepared despite recently losing to Rwanda in an AFCON qualifying match.
“I can’t wait for it to start so that we just go there and do this thing so everyone will rest and not shake that we won’t go to the World Cup”, he continued.
The Super Eagles will hope to secure a first victory in qualifying when they travel to Rwanda before they host Zimbabwe in a doubleheader in March 2025.
