Former Argentine forward, Papu Gomez has heaped praise on Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman as the latter approaches the 2024 CAF Men’s Player of the Year Award.
Lookman’s superb form for Atalanta and the Nigerian national team has caught the attention of many, with the attacker remaining in the running for the prestigious award after an impressive season that saw him score a hat-trick in the UEFA Europa League final against Bayer Leverkusen.
Speaking on Tutto Atalanta, the former San Lorenzo shared his thoughts on what sets Lookman apart from his own playing style during his time at the club.
“He’s not like me. He’s hungry for goals; I was hungrier for assists,” he said.
He went on to praise Lookman’s ability to integrate seamlessly into Atalanta’s system under manager Gian Piero Gasperini, noting that Lookman’s communication with his teammates and his evolving role in the team have been impressive.
“His ability to target the man throughout the game is impressive. He’s grown a lot in team play, you can see that he talks to his teammates and integrates well into Gasperini’s system.” he added.
Lookman will lock horns with Achraf Hakimi, Ronwen Williams and a host of others on the 16th of December for the prestigious award.
