Manchester United plot summer move for Bayern Munich defender

Manchester United are reportedly keen on bringing Bayern Munich defender Alphonso Davies to the Old Trafford when his current contract expires in the summer.

Davies has failed to agree a new deal at the German side despite his current contract running down in few months and the Red devils have reportedly made contact with his representatives about bringing him to England.

The Canada international has yet to show interest in staying at the Allianz Arena with Manchester United seeing him as a ‘dream’ signing.

The 24-year old joined Bayern Munich as a teenager under Niko Kovac from Major League Soccer side Vancouver Whitecaps in January 2019 for a fee of about £10 million. He has made over 140 appearances for the German side and continues to be a key member of the team despite his contract situation.

The left-back is who is regarded widely as one of the best fullbacks in world football currently was part of the treble-winning 2019/20 campaign that saw Bayern Munich conquer Europe and Germany.

Davies is seen as a perfect fit for the left-wing back role under new Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim.

His pace and trickery makes him able to beat opponents easily with and without the ball. His directness and attacking abilities could be pivotal in the Red devils rebuild under their new head coach.

The defender is currently on a £197,000 a week contract at Bayern with contract talks having stalled in a long while and the Red Devils is seen as a suitable destination for him should he decide not to renew.
