Jose Mourinho planning to lure multiple Ballon d’Or winner to Fenerbahce

Fenerbahce coach Jose Mourinho is reportedly in contact with five-time Ballon d’Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo in a bid to lure him to the club.

Mourinho took the Fenerbahce coaching job last summer after he was sacked at Roma. He has had a pretty decent start to life in Turkey, as the club currently sit second in the Super Lig, four points behind Champions Galatasaray.

However, they have been struggling on the continent. Fenerbahce have picked just four five points from four games.

Going into the winter transfer window, the former Turkish champions are looking to bring in reinforcements, as they look to reclaim the Super Lig throne from Galatasaray and pick up the pace on the continent.

According to Transfer News Live, one of the names on their list is Al Nassr star Cristiano Ronaldo. Mourinho is trying to use his influence to lure the former Manchester United star to Fenerbahce.

Recall that Mourinho and Ronaldo are both Portuguese, and they worked together when they were at Spanish giants Real Madrid between 2010 and 2013.

However, it would be a very difficult deal dor Fenerbahce to pull off. Ronaldo’s current deal at Al Nassr runs out next June, and he is on a €200 million/year salary. With his performance for the club and the kind of relevance he has given to the Saudi Arabian Pro League, it is likely that they will tempt him with another contract.

The kind of money that would be involved in landing Ronaldo could send Fenerbahce into bankruptcy. As such, they might have to look at other options.
