Arsenal planning surprise January move for Viktor Gyokeres’ strike partner

English Premier League club Arsenal are considering a move for Swedish striker Alexander Isak in January in a bid to strengthen their forward line.

The Gunners have had a tough start to the current campaign. They currently sit fourth in the Premier League, ten points behind leader Liverpool.

One of their major problems has been in the attack. But it did not even just start this season. The Gunners have been playing without a top-level striker for the past three seasons, as Gabriel Jesus has failed to deliver the goods consistently.

For the last two years, they have constantly been linked with top strikers around Europe like Victor Osimhen, Ivan Toney, Benjamin Sesko. However, they have failed to get any of them. Instead, coach Mikel Arteta has only been focused on bolstering the midfield.

But the more the issue has dragged, the more likely it has seemed that Arsenal will eventually sign a striker soon.

Now, according to Transfer News Live, the Gunners are targeting Newcastle star Alexander Isak as a potential reinforcement in January.

The Swedish striker has been a consistent performance for Newcastle since he joined the club in a €70 million move from Real Sociedad, and he has become one of their biggest asset.

Nonetheless, with Magpies constantly facing financial fair play issues, they may be tempted to sell him. That could fetch them a mega fee, as Isak could go as high as €100 million.

Currently, Swedish strikers are some of the most sought after. Aside from Isak, his Swedish striker partner Viktor Gyokeres has also attracted a lot of attention from top sides in Europe.
