Ahead of this weekend’s EPL clash at the King Power stadium, Chelsea’s manager Enzo Maresca has showered praises on Leicester City forward Jamie Vardy calling him ‘the best striker of his generation’.
The Italian boss prepares to return to the stadium where he won the EFL Championship last season which secured promotion to the top flight for the Foxes and has hailed Vardy who scored 20 goals and provided 2 assists in 37 games under him last season.
“Vardy is fantastic and people don’t realise how good he is”, he said.
“I know that England has been quite lucky with strikers, like Kane, Rooney and many others, but if you ask me he has been the best one.”
The 37-year old striker has scored four times in ten league appearances this season and has the record for the oldest player to win the English Premier League golden boot.
“He can do many things, like run in behind and finish, but the best thing for me is his open mind.
He can be out for one week, without training, and play on the Saturday or Sunday and he’s the one who scores.”
The England forward holds the record for the most consecutive EPL games scored in with 11 and was part of the famous Leicester City team that won the league in the 2015/16 season under Claudio Ranieri.
“Last year he changed the way he was playing by dropping in, linking the play and he still wants to learn. But of course he still has the one thing that is most difficult to find, which is to score goals”, he continued.
Jamie Vardy will be in contention to start for his club in Saturday’s early kickoff fixture against Enzo Maresca resurgent Chelsea.
