Former France midfielder Emmanuel Petit has urged Chelsea star Christopher Nkunku to leave the club and join rivals Manchester United.
Nkunku has had a difficult start to life at Chelsea since his mega €60 million transfer from German Bundesliga club RB Leipzig in July 2023.
The 27-year-old French forward arrived with a bug reputable after impressing at Leipzig in previous seasons. But since he got North London, he has struggled badly.
Nkunku spent the majority of last season on the treatment table. He had to treat a hip injury, a hamstring problem, and a knee injury last season. And that keep him out of the game for an extended period.
Nonetheless, the PSG academy graduate returned to action this season. But he has struggled to break into the starting eleven. The Blues have one of the biggest squads in Europe, as coach Enzo Maresca can confidently field two different starting XIs from him squad.
Nkunku has been limited to 17 appearances this season, but many of them have been off the bench. The France star has ten goals and one assist to show, but that has not been enough to convince Maresca that he needs more time.
Now, former France star Petit believes that his countryman deserves more. According to Transfer News Live, he has told Nkunku to move to Manchester United.
This is coming as the Red Devils just employed Portuguese tactician Ruben Amorim. And he is expected to make many changes at the club in the coming months. There have been subtle talks linking Nkunku with a transfer to Old Trafford in recent weeks.
If Manchester United come calling, Nkunku might just be tempted to leave Stamford Bridge.
