Matheus Cunha delivered a stellar performance at Craven Cottage, scoring twice and providing an assist as Wolverhampton Wanderers stormed to a 4-1 comeback victory over Fulham in the Premier League.
Despite Alex Iwobi’s sensational first-half goal giving Fulham an early lead, Wolves responded emphatically, securing their first away win of the season and climbing out of the relegation zone, at least temporarily.
Fulham, fresh from two consecutive wins, started brightly. Antonee Robinson’s surging run and precise cross in the 10th minute nearly set up Raul Jimenez, whose header from close range rattled the crossbar.
Moments later, the Super Eagles star broke the deadlock with a moment of individual brilliance. The Nigerian international curled a stunning left-footed shot into the top corner, leaving José Sá rooted to the spot—a strike worthy of Puskás Award consideration.
However, Wolves showed resilience and hit back in the 31st minute. Mario Lemina’s long pass found Cunha in space, and the Brazilian’s sublime control and deft lob over Bernd Leno levelled the game in style.
After the break, Wolves seized control. Cunha turned provider, slipping a clever pass into the path of João Gomes, who calmly drilled a low strike into the bottom corner to give the visitors the lead.
Cunha nearly completed his hat-trick shortly after, but a missed one-on-one chance kept Fulham in the contest. Marco Silva’s men sought an equaliser, with substitute Harry Wilson coming closest when his long-range effort thundered off the crossbar in the 71st minute.
Wolves, however, weren’t done. In the 87th minute, Cunha unleashed a sensational long-range strike, doubling his tally and putting the game beyond Fulham’s reach. Gonçalo Guedes added a fourth in stoppage time, rounding off a dominant display by Gary O’Neil’s side.
The result leaves Fulham ruing missed opportunities, despite Iwobi’s standout goal, while Wolves will take confidence from a commanding performance as they look to turn their season around.
