Barcelona suffer fresh blow ahead of Champions League clash against Brest

Former Spanish La Liga champions Barcelona will be without Lamine Yamal for their UEFA Champions League fixture against Brest on Tuesday.

Barcelona have been without their talismanic winger Yamal since the start of November. The 17-year-old forward has registered six goals and eight assists across 18 appearances in all competitions this season.

However, he sustained an injury just before the international break. Talks in Spain indicate that Yamal in suffering from an ankle injury, but Barcelona have refused to talk about the issue openly.

The injury ruled him out of action before the international break when Barcelona played Real Sociedad at the Anoeta. The Blaugrana had a shambolic performance and went on to lose the game 1-0.

Despite the two-week international break, Yamal failed to recover for the game against Celta Vigo which they drew 2-2 on Saturday.

Now, it appears that Yamal is still far from full recovery. This is as GSFN report that the 17-year-old winger will not play against Brest in the Champions League on Tuesday.

It will be a big blow for the Blaugrana, as they have not won any game since Yamal got injured. Nonetheless, Brest have not been in top form recently. They have won just two of their last five and lost three. And at the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys where Barcelona have won their last five games, Barcelona can fancy their chances.

Barcelona currently sit sixth in the Champions League standings with nine points after six games. They need to win at least three of their last four games in the competition to seal their place in the next round.
