Ancelotti delighted with team’s impressive display after win over Leganes

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has expressed his delight after his side’s 3-0 victory over Leganes in the Spanish Laliga.

Kylian Mbappe opened scoring in the first half before further goals from Federico Valverde and Jude Bellingham ensured they moved back to second on the table, four points behind league leaders Barcelona with a game in hand.

“It was a good performance from start to finish. The team was solid and focused. We changed the position of the two forwards a bit: Mbappe on the outside and Vini Jr. on the inside. They did well. Vini Jr. set him up to open the scoring”, Ancelotti said.

Real Madrid have been hit with different injuries this season with the likes of Eder Militao, Rodrygo, Dani Carvajal, David Alaba all missing from the team against Leganes.

“The positive feelings we had against Osasuna were backed up today. We are much more compact and focused. Things are going well.”

Carlo Ancelotti’s side game in hand is a visit to the Mestalla where they face Valencia after the fixture was suspended last month due to flooding in some parts of Spain and a victory will take them to just a point behind their rivals Barcelona.

“Leganes mix their system up a lot. They didn’t surprise us. They are a brave team and are a tough side to play against at home, but we were clinical in possession and created some good chances”, he added.

The Italian’s next game in charge is a repeat of the 2022 UEFA Champions League final when they travel to Anfield to face Liverpool.
