English Premier League giants Manchester United are set to reward Amad Diallo for his impressive performances with a contract extension.
Diallo has had an impressive campaign with Manchester United this season. Recall that the Ivory Coast international joined Manchester United in 2021, but he had to go on different loan deals at Sunderland and Rangers.
However, this season, he has enjoyed more game time. Under former coach Erik Ten Hag, he showed glimpses of his brilliance, but he was only used sparingly.
But since Portuguese tactician Ruben Amorim has taken charge of Manchester United, Diallo has become more important. This season, Diallo has registered three goals and three assists in 16 appearances.
Now, in a new development according to Transfer News Live, Manchester United begun talks with Diallo for him to pen a contract extension.
His current deal expires at the end of the season, with the option of a one-year extension. But the extension could even go beyond 2026.
With Amorim as coach, Diallo has shown signs that he can flourish as a wing back or a forward. The 22-year-old will be looking to excel at Old Trafford and help the club claim silverware in future.
Nonetheless, even as Diallo is set to sign a new contract, some players are expected to leave Manchester United in the coming months. Players like Antony, Joshua Zirkzee, Johnny Evans, Christian Eriksen, and Harry Maguire could be part of the mass exodus.
