Ex-Manchester United coach Erik Ten Hag in line for German job

Former Manchester United coach Erik Ten Hag is in line to become the next Leipzig coach if Marco Rose us sacked due to his poor run of form.

Ten Hag is yet to get a new job after he was sacked from Manchester United at the end of October. Recall that the Dutch manager was appointed as Manchester United in July 2021. At the end of last season, it was almost certain that he would get sacked. But after defeating Manchester City in the final of the FA Cup, Ten Hag was left to continue.

Unfortunately for him, after a poor run of results at the start of this season, the former Ajax boss was sacked, with Ruben Amorim appointed in his place.

However, it seems Ten Hag is set to return to the touchlines. This is as Transfer News Live is reporting that Leipzig have highlighted him as a top option if Marco Rose gets sacked.

Rose has had a disappointing start campaign with Leipzig this season, with six wins from twelve games in the Bundesliga. In the UEFA Champions League, they have lost all their games, and in fact, they have lost six of their last mine games in all competitions.

If Leipzig’s poor run continues, Rose’s two-year stay at the club could be cut short soon, and Ten Hag could be their man.

If the deal happens, it will be Ten Hag’s first time working as the head coach of a top-tier German team. He worked as coach of Bayern Munich B between 2013 and 2015, but he then went on Utrecht, Ajax, and Manchester United.

It will be a big opportunity for the Dutchman to redeem himself after a largely unimpressive stay at Manchester United.
