Liverpool boss Arne Slot reveals Alison Becker’s return date

Liverpool coach Arne Slot has revealed that Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson Becker is edging closer to a return and could be back on the pith before the end of December.

Alison has been out of action since the start of October, when he was substituted off in the 79th minute of their English Premier League win over Crystal Palace. After tests, he was confirmed to have sustained a hamstring injury. Since then, he has been on the sidelined.

Nonetheless, in his absence, Irish goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher has stepped in and has been brilliant. The 26-year-old has kept five clean sheets in his last nine games for the Reds.

However, it seems his game time is set to be cut short soon. This is as Slot has revealed that Alisson has been making steady progress in his rehabilitation and is set to return to action in a few weeks. He made this disclosure during Liverpool’s pre-match presser for their Premier League fixture against Newcastle United at St. James’ Park.

“Alisson is getting there, it might take a few more days but he’s getting closer and closer. Our plan is for Alisson to be in goal before the end of December,” Slot told journalists.

Liverpool have a tricky run of fixtures this month. After Newcastle, they play Everton, Girona, Fulham, Southampton, Tottenham Hotspur, Leicester City, and West Ham.

Slot may be looking at giving Alisson a soft landing. Hence, the 32-year-old could play against Southampton in their EFL fixture which is slated for December 18.
