Alexis Mac Allister keen on seeing three key stars extend Liverpool stay

Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister is keen to see Liverpool retain Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold, following the club’s contract offers to the three stars.

Salah, Van Dijk and Trent are all approaching the final six months of their current deals with Liverpool, with the Egyptian forward’s future drawing significant attention in recent weeks.

Liverpool’s talismanic winger recently hinted at a possible departure, expressing his disappointment at the club’s lack of action regarding his expiring contract.

Van Dijk is reported to have turned down Liverpool’s initial contract proposal, while Alexander-Arnold has been heavily linked with a move to Spanish giants Real Madrid.

However, Sky Sports reported on Monday that “positive” discussions have been held with all three players, and Mac Allister is eager for them to commit their futures to the club.

“Hopefully Trent and Virgil can continue with us, along with Salah,” Mac Allister told Diario AS.

“Alexander-Arnold is crucial as we saw against Manchester City when he came back from injury. Like Salah, he is in negotiations and hopefully he can continue in the team.”

Alexander-Arnold is widely regarded for his contributions to Liverpool’s attacking play but the England international has often come under heavy criticism for his lack of defensive solidity.

However Mac Allister only had lofty words for his teammate; “His quality is enormous,” the Argentina international continued in praise of the English right-back.

“I have always said that he was criticised for his defensive role, but I have no doubt that both in defence and attack he can make the difference.

“He is also strong and quick, which allows him to find that balance between attack and defence.”
