Galatasaray’s Nigerian forward, Victor Osimhen, is facing a spell on the sidelines after sustaining a muscle injury in his team’s 3-2 victory over Sivasspor on Sunday.
The 25-year-old striker, who had opened the scoring with a penalty late in the first half, was substituted in the 74th minute after feeling discomfort in his right upper back.
Following the match, Osimhen underwent MRI scans at Galatasaray’s sponsor hospital, Medicana, which revealed a moderate strain and bleeding in the right upper back muscle group. The club confirmed that treatment has already begun for the injury, though no specific timeline has been provided for his return.
In a statement, Galatasaray explained, “During the Net Global Sivasspor match in the 15th week of the Trendyol Super League, Victor Osimhen felt pain in his right upper back muscle. In the MRI examinations performed at our sponsor hospital Medicana, moderate strain and bleeding were detected in the right upper back muscle group and treatment has been started for our player.”
This injury comes as a blow to both Osimhen and Galatasaray, with the striker having been in fine form since his arrival. The Napoli-owned forward has made a significant impact since joining the Turkish champions, and his absence could be a key factor in the team’s upcoming fixtures.
The club has yet to provide a concrete timeframe for his recovery, with further updates expected as Osimhen progresses through treatment. As Galatasaray continue their campaign in the Turkish Super Lig, the team will be hoping for a swift recovery for their star striker, whose presence has been instrumental in their attacking play this season.
