Ejuke eyes January return as recovery progresses at Sevilla

Sevilla winger Chidera Ejuke is edging closer to a full recovery from a high-grade hamstring tear sustained during his side’s clash against Barcelona last month.

The Nigeria international has returned to training on grass, with a projected return to action by the end of January.

Speaking on Ejuke’s recovery process, Sevilla manager, Garcia Pimienta emphasised that his progress aligns with expectations.

“He is taking steps little by little. It is within the recovery process. The difference between conservative-operating room does not change the recovery time, but we hope that, in mid-January, he will train with the team and at the end of January he will have the competitive discharge,” they stated.

Ejuke, who joined Sevilla on a free transfer in the summer, made an immediate impact with the La Liga side, netting once in eight league appearances before his injury setback.

While his recovery remains a top priority, the club is cautious about rushing him back into competitive action.

“Glad he’s making progress. Let’s hope that, by the end of January, he will be with the group. We’ll see the rest. When the match against Real Madrid is over, we’ll see,” added the Pimienta.

The 26-year-old’s return will provide a significant boost for Sevilla as they look to strengthen their attack in the second half of the season. Known for his pace and creativity, Ejuke’s presence will add depth and versatility to Sevilla’s offensive lineup.
