Former English Premier League champions Liverpool have joined the race to sign Canada international Alphonso Davies when his contract expires next summer.
Davies has been one of the most talked about stars in the transfer market in recent months. He joined Bayern Munich from Canadian club Vancouver in 2019. Since he joined, he has the phenomenal, helping the German giants win the UEFA Champions League and multiple Bundesliga titles.
However, Davies’ contract is supposed to expire at the end of the season, but he has refused to sign an extension at the club.
Due to the current situation many clubs in Europe have been linked with the Canadian star. The 24-year-old defender has been heavily linked to Barcelona and Real Madrid, but nothing concrete has been agreed on yet.
Davies also has admirers from the English Premier League. And according to Transfer News Live, Liverpool are looking to sign him next summer.
This is due to the likely exit of Trent Alexander-Arnold, who looks bound for Real Madrid. If the Englishman leaves at the end of his contract next summer, Liverpool could go all in for Davies, who is at par.
Nonetheless, a player like Davies would command interest from all the top clubs in Eurrope. Even PSG might be considering a deal. As such, any club that wants to sign him would have to do it fast.
Meanwhile, Davies’ salary might be a problem. The Canadian is currently paid just over €210,000 weekly. But he could now be demanding up to €300,000.
