Report: Manchester City considering shock swoop for former Manchester United star

Reigning English Premier League champions Manchester City are considering a surprise transfer for former Manchester United man Paul Pogba.

Manchester City have been struggling since October after a decent start to the campaign. The team has been badly hit by injuries, as some of their best legs have missed a lot of games already.

In midfield, they lack enough quality bodies, as Rodri has been ruled out of the season with an anterior cruciate injury, Kevin De Bruyne is struggling to find his form, Matteo Kovacic is struggling with his fitness, and Ilkay Gundogan has not been his old self.

Due to their struggles, it is expected that Pep Guardiola would want to add some quality to help Manchester City through the second half of the campaign.

Now, according to Transfer News Live, Manchester City could sign Pogba, who is a free agent.

The 31-year-old has had a tumultuous past two years, since he left Manchester United for Juventus in 2022. Pogba could only make 12 appearances, as he struggled badly with injuries.

Then, last September, he was banned from football for four years. However, the ban was later reduced to 18 months, ensuring that he will be able to return to action in March 2025.

This means that even if Pogba signs in January, he won’t be allowed to play for the Cityzens until the tail end of the season.

Manchester City are not the only clubs interested in Pogba. The French star has also attracted interest from Ligue 1 clubs like Lyon and Marseille. The former Manchester United will be looking to return to action soon.
