“It’s time for him to leave” – Carragher names one player Man United need to offload immediately

Jamie Carragher believes Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford’s days at Old Trafford are numbered, insisting that both club and player are bound to go their separate ways at some point.

The former Liverpool defender cum pundit did not hold back words in his scathing assessment of the 27-year-old winger, who has suffered a dramatic dip in form since enjoying that spectacular 2022/2023 campaign.

In the last couple of seasons, Rashford has failed to hit the heights that we saw while he enjoyed that scintillating run of form. The England international has instead been found wanting areas of discipline and training aptitude on a number of occasions.

Having been left out of United’s most recent Premier League win over neighbors Manchester City by head coach Ruben Amorim for similar reasons, Carragher believes Rashford’s Old Trafford exit needs to happen quick and fast.

“Most managers who come in, they want to send a message to the squad about the standards of the football club,” he said as quoted by Sky Sport. “In some ways it feels a bigger decision than it actually is.

“I mean, is Marcus Rashford in the best XI? How good is he? We’re not talking about a world-renowned superstar here. I actually think we talk about Marcus Rashford too much, if I’m being totally honest.

“He’s a good player, he’s not a great player, he’s been a really good player for Manchester United. It is time for him to leave the club, but whether there’ll be any takers with the wages the lad’s on and things like that, who knows.

“I just think a parting of the ways is inevitable at some stage, and I think for Manchester United and Rashford, the quicker that comes, the better.”
