Real Madrid Carlo Ancelotti believes Kylian Mbappe’s adaptation to the demands of playing for the reigning Spanish champions is now complete following a consistent run of impressive performances by the Frenchman.
Mbappe appears to have hit a nice patch of form as he currently boasts the most La Liga goals within the squad, with 9 goals in 15 appearances.
The 25-year-old also starred with the opening goal of Madrid’s 3-0 win over Mexican side Pachuca in the Intercontinental Cup final on Wednesday.
Mbappe seems to have really overcome his form and adaptation challenges at the Spanish capital, heading into the Sevilla game on the back of 5 goals in his last 7 games.
“His adaptation period is over. He has already shown a good version of himself and could still improve,” Ancelotti told reporters ahead of hosting Sevilla on Saturday.
“He has recovered well from the small injury he had. He is motivated, excited, and happy to be here. He needed that period, everyone does, but it’s over now.”
Ancelotti however expressed frustration over injuries affecting his attacking options, as star Brazilian winger Vinicius Junior missed three league games due to a muscle injury before returning as a substitute against Vallecano.
“They haven’t played much together because sometimes Rodrygo or [Jude] Bellingham have been injured. But from what I’ve seen, they combine well and adapt to each other’s characteristics,” he added.
“Sometimes Mbappe has played on the left, sometimes Vinicius has moved inside, and other times Bellingham has drifted to the left. I’m not going to assign a fixed position to all four; I’ll give them the freedom to find the right position.”
