Luis Enrique responds to Victor Osimhen links amid PSG transfer speculations

Paris Saint-Germain manager Luis Enrique has played down rumours linking Napoli striker Victor Osimhen to the French giants ahead of the January transfer window.

Osimhen, who is currently on loan at Galatasaray, has been a long-term target for PSG, with the Ligue 1 champions reportedly keen on adding the Nigerian forward to their squad. However, their inability to meet Napoli’s hefty valuation during the summer transfer window halted any potential deal.

Recent reports suggest that PSG are reigniting their interest in Osimhen, but Luis Enrique has dismissed the speculation, insisting he is content with his current squad.

“I’m not talking about players who aren’t in the club, in any case,” Enrique stated. “I’m very happy with the squad. The best thing to do in each transfer window is to be attentive. It’s difficult to improve our squad; we want to develop our young talents. Regarding the transfer window, we have a very good team.”

Despite Enrique’s non-committal stance, PSG’s interest in Osimhen recalls their ambition to bolster their attack following the exit of Kylian Mbappe, Lionel Messi and Neymar Jr. However, the complex nature of the deal—with Napoli, Galatasaray, and Osimhen himself involved—makes a January move unlikely.

The 25-year-old has already expressed his commitment to seeing out his season-long loan at Galatasaray, which further quench speculation of a mid-season transfer. For now, it appears PSG will have to wait until the summer if they are to pursue the prolific Nigerian forward.
