Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti was delighted with his team’s performance following their convincing 4-2 victory over Sevilla at the Santiago Bernabeu on Sunday.
After a series of unconvincing performances between October and November which saw them lose to Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League and to Athletic Bilbao in the Spanish La liga, the European champions have won four of their past five matches in all competitions.
They recently defeated Mexican side Pachuca in the final of the Intercontinental cup to claim another accolade after previously winning the Laliga, Champions League and the UEFA super cup.
“We feel better in attack. Today we were missing an important player in Vinicius but the players performed very well, everyone had an excellent game.
We also came out better from the back and when we attack with a good exit from the back we had more chances”, Ancelotti said.
Goals from Kylian Mbappe, Federico Valverde, Rodrygo Goes and Brahim Diaz set them up for a convincing victory as they move ahead of Barcelona to second on the standings.
They are just a point behind league leaders Atletico Madrid although they both have a game in hand.
The 65-year old Italian coach also praised his players for their grit and determination as were able to put the disappointing period behind them.
“After the defeat against Milan, we talked and fixed things. We’ve come back and we’ve sorted things out.
When things don’t go well, you’re responsible. Thanks to the support of the players and the club, they have never shown me concern, but calm and support”, he added.
Real Madrid will be back in action after a short winter break when they travel to the Mestalla to face Valencia on the 3rd of January, 2025.
