Tolu Arokodare shines for Genk as Turkish giants Galatasaray keep a close watch

Nigerian towering striker, Tolu Arokodare, continued his impressive form in the Belgian Pro League, scoring and assisting as KRC Genk secured a 2-0 victory over Anderlecht at the Cegeka Arena.

The Nigerian striker opened the scoring in the 29th minute, expertly heading home to put Genk in front. Later in the second half, Arokodare turned provider, setting up Konstantinos Karetsas for the Smurfs’ second goal in the 72nd minute. The win moved Genk to 41 points from 19 matches, cementing their strong position in the league.

This season, the 24-year-old has been firing on all cylinder, netting 11 goals and providing crucial assists in 19 league appearances.

Arokodare is just one goal away from equalling his tally from the entire 2023/24 campaign, showing significant growth in his contributions to Genk’s attacking line.

The striker’s fine performances have not gone unnoticed, with reports linking him to a potential move to Turkish champions Galatasaray next summer.

The Istanbul-based club is reportedly monitoring Arokodare closely, as they continue their trend of signing talented Nigerian forwards.

Since Victor Osimhen’s arrival last summer, Galatasaray has been consistently linked with Nigerian strikers, including Gift Orban and Paul Onuachu. While no concrete offers have emerged, Arokodare’s form has made him a standout target for the Turkish giants.

Arokodare’s rise since joining Genk in January 2023 has been remarkable. After a slow start, the Nigerian has adapted to the Belgian league, establishing himself as a reliable goal-scorer.
