Arsenal legend Ian Wright believes Atalanta’s Ademola Lookman and Eintracht Frankfurt’s Omar Marmoush would be the “perfect” signings for Mikel Arteta and the Gunners during the coming January transfer window.
Both are currently enjoying scintillating form with their respective clubs this season, with Lookman spearheading Atalanta’s charge at the summit of Serie A while Marmoush’s displays have propelled Frankfurt into the top three mix in Bundesliga.
Speaking on his podcast titled Wrighty’s House Podcast, the former Arsenal striker was impressed by the exploits of both players so far this campaign, suggesting that their addition to Arteta’s squad in January could help in their bid to win the Premier League.
“You look at them… the way we play and what we need, the both of them would be perfect. They would be brilliant,” Wright said.
The former England international also gushed over Lookman, who only recently, was crowned Africa’s best player for the year 2024. Lookman had previously played in England before moving to Italy, turning out for the likes of Everton, Leicester City and Fulham.
“African Player of the Year, congratulations! He looked amazing. I saw a little documentary on him and it was so uplifting, his journey, so congratulations to him,” Wright added.
While a move to North London at this stage of both players’ careers would certainly be a big step up, it remains highly unlikely that Arsenal would be able to prise Lookman off the hands of Atlanta in January.
Atalanta are currently two points clear at the top of Serie A and the 26-year-old has been talismanic for them so far. The Nerazzurri will surely be desperate to keep a hold of their most important player as they look to bring the Scudetto to Bergamo.
In the case of Marmoush, the Gunners potentially stand a better chance at luring the Egyptian to England. However, Eintracht Frankfurt will also be reluctant to let go of their star man and could potentially price Arsenal out of a move.
