Agent hints at Frenkie De Jong’s next move amid rumored Barcelona exit

Frankie De Jong’s agent Ali Dursun has dismissed talks linking the Dutchman with a transfer to Saudi Arabia, insisting that he could even stay at Barcelona for a long time.

The last few years have been challenging for Dutch mudfielder De Jong. He has struggled with injuries, and his future has been in the balance. Due to Barcelona’s financial struggles, there have been talks that the club are trying to push him out.

The 27-year-old midfielder is the highest earner at Barcelona, with his salary around €37.5 million, at least €10 million more than any player at the club.

Previously, there have been talks linking De Jong with Premier League club Manchester United. But those talks have cooled off and it does not seem like the Red Devils are still interested in acquiring his services.

Barcelona are also unwilling to give him a new contract. And with other suitors unwilling to meet De Jong’s wage demands, there have been talks that the Dutchman could move to Saudi Arabia. However, his agent has come out to rubbish such talks.

“The reports about a move to Saudi are nonsense. It distracts Frenkie from what he really wants: shining at Barça, the club that he loves the most.

“Who knows, maybe Barça and Frenkie] stay together for a longer time,” Dursun said, per Fabrizio Romano.

De Jong is currently have an average season st Barcelona. He just returned to action after a long injury lay-off. Although the club have not come out to say they want the former Ajax man to leave, they would be desperate to get him off due to his huge wages.
