Former English Premier League Champions Manchester United are reportedly interested in Paris Saint Germain defender, Nuno Mendes in the January transfer window.
With new manager Ruben Amorim looking to rebuild the Red Devils squad after taking over in November from Dutch coach Erik Ten Hag, Nuno Mendes is seen by the United hierarchy as a suitable option at the left wing-back position.
Manchester United first choice leftback, Luke Shaw has only made two league appearances this season after suffering another injury-hampered season, while Netherlands defender Tyrell Malacia has been unable to stake a place in the team due to a lack of form and fitness.
Portugal defender Diogo Dalot who has been mostly employed at the position, has rarely been impressive stressing the need for a replacement.
The Portugal international joined the French champions from Sporting Lisbon in 2021 and could be open to a move away from Luis Enrique’s side.
The 22-year old has been a regular in the team since joining three years ago and has made 16 appearances in all competitions this season, including nine in the league as the Parisiens maintain a 10 point gap over second-placed Olympique Marseille.
Mendes’ current deal at the French giants run until 2026 and his inability to agree a contract extension in recent months have alerted European top clubs including Manchester United.
His dribbling abilities, passing and pace could be key to Ruben Amorim’s tactics on the wings, with his constant bursting runs forward and composure when defending his box.
A deal could be in place for the former Sporting Lisbon defender to move to Old Trafford with PSG ready to respond to negotiations above €70 million.
