Galatasaray explore loan move for PSG defender

Turkish Super League champions Galatasaray, are reportedly eyeing a move for Paris Saint Germain defender Milan Skriniar in the just-opened January transfer window.

The Slovakian center-back joined the French champions in the summer of 2023 on a free transfer from Inter Milan, becoming the first-ever Slovak to appear for the club.

The 29-year old has struggled to impress Paris Saint Germain manager Luis Enrique, and has not fully adapted to the Parisiens style of play since joining just over a year ago.

He is deemed surplus to requirements with club captain Marquinhos, Colombian defender Willian Pacho, Brazilian international Lucas Beraldo and experienced French center-back Presnel Kimpembe all preferred to him.

This season, he has appeared in just five of PSG’s Ligue one matches, making four starts and has been left on the bench in all six of the French giant’s UEFA Champions League matches this season.

Turkey giants Galatasaray, who have also been linked with a move for Liverpool captain Virgil Van Dijk, view Skriniar as the solution to their defensive woes.

The Turkey league table-toppers have the best attack in the lead but also leak in a lot of goals, and a move for the Slovakian captain is deemed necessary as they look to defend their league crown.

With the January transfer window already opened, Galatasaray have reportedly opened talks with Paris Saint Germain to bring the defender who is valued at €35 million to Turkey on loan till the end of the season.

Known for his strong tackling ability and long passing accuracy, the former Inter Milan defender is open to a move away from the Parc des Princes if enticed by a suitable offer.
