Southampton manager Ivan Juric has expressed discontent with his side’s performance after their embarrassing 5-0 home loss to Brentford.
The 49-year old manager who has lost all his three games in charge, also apologized to the Saints supporters after yet another disappointing outing at the St Mary’s, which has left them languishing at the bottom of the Premier League standings.
“An extremely bad day, a really bad game. There was such a difference between the two teams and I’m disappointed with everything; the team, myself, everybody.
There has just been two weeks but I expected I could do more with the team. The players know the situation is very bad. They’ve been through it before and it’s the same thing. But they have to stick together and try to work harder”, the Croatian said.
Bryan Mbeumo’s double, along with goals from Kevin Schade, Kean Lewis-Potter and Yoane Wissa secured the comprehensive win for the Bees as Southampton remain winless in their last 11 games in all competitions.
“Today I was thinking about one step forward and we took three steps back. It was a really bad performance. It’s important to concentrate, to stay focus, to work to improve ourselves”, he continued.
“We cannot lose 5-0 at home. I feel responsible. The game, it was awful. This day cannot happen any more.”
The Saints have a relegation battle on their hands and are currently 10 points from safety. They will be next in action on Sunday when they host championship side Swansea, in the FA Cup third round before traveling to Old Trafford to face Manchester United in the Premier League four days later.
