Former English Premier League champions Chelsea are reportedly interested in signing Crystal Palace defender, Marc Guehi in the January transfer window.
The 24-year old who left the Blues in 2021 to join the Eagles, could be on a move back to Stamford Bridge after less than five years away.
Chelsea’s boss Enzo Maresca is looking into the market for defensive cover after injuries to the French duo of Wesley Fofana and Benoit Badiashile, leaving them with only three fit center backs as they continue their push for a top four finish at the end of the season.
The England international who made his debut for the Three Lions in March 2022, was linked with a move to Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United in the summer. His transfer move was rejected despite the Magpies submitting a bid of up to £70 million for the defender.
The Cobham graduate made only two appearances for the Blues and has grown to become one of the best defenders in the league, despite playing for relegation-threatened Crystal Palace. His contract expires in 18 months and a move could be sanctioned this window to avoid losing him for a lesser amount in the summer.
Guehi is very tall and composed on the ball and his experience playing in the top flight could be key for Enzo Maresca’s side if he makes a move back to his boyhood club.
