Kelechi Iheanacho: Nigerian forward’s Agent dismisses transfer speculation to African club

Kelechi Iheanacho’s agent Roger Wittmann, has rubbished transfer speculations linking the Nigerian forward to a move to Egyptian giants Al Ahly.

According to earlier reports, the reigning CAF Champions League winners have shown interest in signing the former Manchester City forward as he is seen as a suitable replacement for South African winger Percy Tau, while also providing experience and options as they prepare for the expanded 2025 Club World cup.

The former Leicester City man joined Sevilla in the summer on a free transfer after failing to renew his contract at the Foxes, and has had a slow start to life in Spain. He is yet to score or provide an assist in nine Spanish Laliga matches while his three goals for the club has been in the Copa Del Rey.

The 28-year old has also attracted interest from English Championship side Watford while clubs from Greece and Turkey are also jostling for his signature.

“No one from Egypt has contacted us to talk about the player, so the news that is out there is completely false”, Wittmann said while speaking to Egyptian media outley Btolat.

With the January transfer window already opened, the former Europa League winners are reportedly willing to move on from the Nigerian international, with his departure deemed necessary to facilitate further arrivals.

Iheanacho will also be eager to secure a move away from the club in a bid to reignite his career and recapture the form he showed in his early days in England.
