West Ham are looking to sack head coach Julen Lopetegui, and replacing him with Graham Potter. Lopetegui has been in charge since the summer when he replaced David Moyes. However, less than six months into the job, he has come under a lot of pressure, following a series of disappointing results despite West Ham’s huge spending last summer.
Lopetegui looks set to get the sack following West Ham’s abysmal 4-1 loss to Manchester City last weekend. And according to The Sun, West Ham are keen on acquiring the services of former Chelsea manager Potter.
Daily Mail also reports that Potter came close to replacing the current West Ham manager in December, but the club decided to keep faith the ex-Wolves boss, under the condition that the results improved.
Since then, West Ham went on a four match unbeaten run. But that momentum has since died down after losing their last two games to Liverpool and Manchester City – conceding nine and scoring just once in the process
Westham currently sit 13th on the league table with 23 points, six wins and nine losses from 20 matches. But it’s unclear if Lopetegui will be with team in their next encounter when they host Fulham.
West Ham face Aston Villa in the FA Cup third round on Friday night before returning to Premier League action against Fulham on January 14.
