Manchester United defender, Jonny Evans, is reportedly being targeted by Scottish club, Glasgpw Rangers for the transfer window. Following reports linking Tyrel Malacia away from the club, Jonny Evans appears to be the next member in the United squad linked with a move away.
According to The Daily Record, a member of the Rangers board has suggested the 37-year old United centreback as a January signing, but head coach Philippe Clement is put off by the Northern Irishman age, given his preference for younger talents.
Evans made a shock return to Old Trafford in 2023. In his first season back at the club, he played 30 matches across all competitions and clearly did not look out of place as many had thought.
Nonetheless, this season has seen a considerable reduction in minutes most especially following the summer acquisitions of Matthijs de Ligt and Leny Yoro.
With manager Ruben Amorim looking to sign other defenders and talents such as Godwill Kukonki coming through the academy, it appears like this might be the Belfast native’s last season at the club.
Evans is clearly not in Amorim’s plans as he has only played in two matches during the Portuguese’s reign and has not started since the former Sporting Lisbon manager’s first game in charge away to Ipswich Town at the end of November.
