Fulham manager Marco Silva is confident his side can achieve victory in the Emirates FA cup, ahead of their third round fixture against Championship side Watford on Thursday night.
The Cottagers have been one of the Premier League’s surprise team this season, currently ninth on the standings, six points off Chelsea in fourth place, and host the Hornets in a game the 47-year old Portuguese coach has charged his side to come out victorious.
“We want to [do well]. Two seasons ago we reached the quarter-final. Last season we reached the Carabao semi-finals too. I told the players that the top ambition is this competition. All clubs should look at this cup like it deserves. It is a good competition in this country that everybody loves.
The final is something unbelievable and if you can participate it is one of the greatest moments you can have in this country. We want to play with a full ambition that we can beat them”, he said before the match.
Fulham have failed to beat their opponents in their last six meetings, but have progressed from their last five third round matches.
Silva who was at the dugouts for the Hornets from 2017 before he was sacked in 2018, is confident of victory against his former side.
“We know what we are capable of. We have to be pleased with the season so far. We should have got more points for sure but have to keep being competitive and adjust things we have been punished for”, he continued.
“We are competitive. We are a good side. We have clear identity how to play and are really competitive. To be competitive at this level, you have to have this all in the same box and show quality week in and week out.”
