Manchester City are reportedly advancing in their pursuit of Brazilian defensive prodigy Victor Reis, having agreed on personal terms with the 18-year-old Palmeiras defender.
Reis, who signed a contract extension with the Brazilian Serie A side last summer that keeps him tied to the club until 2028, is widely regarded as one of South America’s brightest defensive prospects. Known for his composure and sharp defensive awareness, the young player has earned widespread admiration.
“Despite not being a very physical player, he’s very good in the air and has shown great awareness for an 18-year-old,” said Brazilian football expert Marcos Watts, highlighting the teenager’s remarkable abilities.
Known for aerial strength and ability to execute precise tackles, Reis has attracted interest from some of Europe’s top clubs with Arsenal, Liverpool, and Chelsea said to be among the list of admirers.
According to TBR Football, another Premier League club, Brighton & Hove Albion, has initiated discussions with Palmeiras about a potential transfer. Real Madrid, renowned for their success in recruiting Brazilian talent, are also reportedly interested.
However, Manchester City are said to be leading the race, with Fabrizio Romano reporting that the Premier League champions aim to finalize a deal during the January transfer window.
The addition of Reis would further bolster City’s defensive depth as they continue to build for the future.
