Real Madrid have officially completed the signing of 18-year-old Lamini Fati from fellow La Liga club Leganés for €100,000. This marks the Spanish giants’ first acquisition of the January transfer window, bolstering their future defensive options. Fati will join Real Madrid’s Juvenil team in the Spanish capital.
“Lamini joined Leganés in the youth category, progressing through all their youth teams. In the 2023/24 season, he was part of the Juvenil ‘A’ team that finished third in the División de Honor league and reached the quarter-finals of the youth Copa del Rey,” a Leganés representative stated.
Known for his imposing physique and ability to retain possession, Fati has been a standout performer for Leganés B in the Tercera RFEF, Spain’s fifth tier.
His performance had also caught the attention of several top clubs, including Valencia, who made an attempt to secure his services last summer.
While the club managed to ward off Los Che’s advances, they ultimately couldn’t match Real Madrid’s persistent pursuit. According to reports, Madrid are said to have monitored the situation surrounding the teenage sensation since December.
Fati’s move proved Real Madrid’s commitment to nurturing young talent as they continue to strengthen their youth setup for future success.
