Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou, has insisted that his side will be at their full strength ahead of their FA cup third round match at lower-league Tamworth.
Spurs travel to the 4,065-Lamb Ground capacity stadium, to face their cup opponent who are about 100 places below them in the English football rankings.
Speaking in the prematch conference ahead of the tie, the former Celtic boss played down the idea of not starting a full-strength team due to the quality of his opponents.
“I’ve got no doubt about the attitude of the players. I think all along they’ve always had a great understanding of every game’s importance.
Certainly we’re going into Sunday’s game with the same kind of mindset of making sure we do the things we can control because there’s a fair difference in terms of level of football we’re playing at”, Postecoglou said.
“I’m sure Tamworth see this as a great opportunity for themselves and we’ve got to be ready for that.”
The North London side come into the game on the back of a controversial 1-0 win over Premier League leaders Liverpool in the Carabao cup semifinal first-leg, and the Australian coach believes a statement win on Sunday will be a confidence booster ahead of the North London Derby next Wednesday.
“You always need to respect the opponent. I’ve had enough experiences in my life with being the underdog and I know you’re always hoping the team you’re playing underestimates – well, we won’t be doing that”, he added.
