Big worry’- Mikel Arteta gives injury update on Arsenal forward after FA cup exit

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, has confirmed that Brazilian striker Gabriel Jesus will be out of action for a while, after suffering an injury in the penalty shootout loss to Manchester United in the FA Cup on Sunday.

Red Devils goalkeeper Altay Bayindir, saved Kai Havertz’s spot-kick as the Gunners were eliminated from the third round of the tournament, despite playing over an hour with a man advantage after Diogo Dalot was sent off for a second bookable offense in the 61st minute.

Gabriel Jesus who has six goals in his past six games, was stretched off in the 39th minute after appearing to tweak his knee and was replaced by the on-loan Raheem Sterling, and the Spanish manager has described his injury as disturbing.

“Big worry, that’s my feeling. To come off with a stretcher in a lot of pain, touching his knee, it’s not looking good”, he confirmed after the game.

“No, I think it’s the other one. The worrying factor is the feeling that he had. When he had to come off and the pain that he was in”, Arteta said, when asked if the former Manchester City striker suffered a recurrent injury.

His injury adds to the long list of absentees for the Gunners who also have England winger Bukayo Saka, and teenage sensation Ethan Nwaneri out of action for a considerable amount of time, which might force the club to act in the transfer window.
