Portuguese Liga Primera side Boavista, have reportedly rejected a bid from Turkey Super League side Trabzonspor for Nigerian defender Bruno Onyemaechi.
The 25-year old has been one of the top performers at the Portuguese side this season, winning the club’s player of the month award for December. He joined the club on an initial loan deal from Feirense in the summer of 2022 before sealing a permanent move the following season, after an impressive loan stint.
The versatile left-back has appeared in all of Boavista’s league games this season, starting 16 times and making one substitute appearance, while also scoring twice although they remain rooted to the bottom of the standings with 12 points from their opening 17 matches.
Despite a challenging season for the Panthers, Onyemaechi’s brilliant performances has attracted attention, with Boavista rejecting Trabzonspor latest bid of €2.5 million as it is short of their €5 million valuation of the Super Eagles defender.
The Turkish giants value the Nigerian defender’s versatility, as he can play across the defense lines, either as a fullback, centre-back or a wingback, while his signing his deemed as a priority as Trabzonspor look to solidify their left-back position.
With his current contract set to expire at the end of next season and a renewal looking unlikely, Boavista might decide to cash-in on the Super Eagles defender, who made his national team debut in a 6-0 win over Sao Tome and Principe in September 2023, if a better offer comes in.
