Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, has expressed optimism about the club’s recruitment policy and is confident of new signings before the end of the January transfer window.
The 42-year old has been subject of recent criticism, as the Gunners have failed to register a signing so far in the transfer window despite being linked to several players.
The Gunners are short of attacking options with the likes of Bukayo Saka, Ethan Nwaneri and Gabriel Jesus all sidelined with injury, leaving only Kai Havertz as the club’s only recognized center-forward.
There have been calls for reinforcements in attack, with links to Sporting Lisbon striker Victor Gyokeres, RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko and Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen, all linked with a move to the Emirates, although there has been no concrete offers from the club for their signature.
“We know who we want to sign,” Arteta told reporters at a news conference. “We have very clear ideas of the players that we want, yes.
It was before Gabriel Jesus’ injury and it was with Gabi injured right now and we have to wait and see how things develop.”
Arsenal have been active in the transfer market however, with reports suggesting they are close to the signature of Spanish midfielder Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad, although a move in the summer is seen as a more feasible option than a move this month.
