Manchester City have officially finalized a deal with RC Lens for 20-year-old Abdoukodir Khusanov.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the Uzbekistan defender will play for Manchester City’ as all documents are already in place and the player is expected to sign once his visa has been approved.
With defender, Kyle Walker set to explore opportunities outside the club as confirmed by head coach, Pep Guardiola, and Ruben Dias out with a muscle injury, City’s defensive options is considerably thinned out. Khusanov will be arriving at the Etihad as Pep Guardiola and the City hierarchy look forward to accelerating a squad revamp after a disappointing first half of the 2024-25 season.
The defender who is set to become the first player from his nation to play in England’s top tier has racked up consistent performances in with Lens this term garnering the attention of top-flight clubs across Europe.
According to Sports Mole, Khusanov is expected to undergo a medical on Friday after sorting out all the necessary paperwork.
The Citizens finally received the approval of Khusanov’s work permit, paving the way for him to finalise his move to the Etihad Stadium.
Also, reports per Fabrizio Romano reveal that Khusanov is not the only defender set to join the Premier League champions, with Vitor Reis on the verge of arriving from Brazilian side Palmeiras.
