Italian Serie A side AS Roma, have reportedly shown interest in acquiring the services of Nigerian right-back Ola Aina from English club Nottingham Forest.
The 28-year old has been in superb form this season in the English Premier League, as the high-flying Nottingham Forest sit third in the standings, six points off table-topping Liverpool.
The former Torino defender has featured in all 20 matches in the league this season, and has grown into a key figure at the club. He recently provided an eye-catching outing, including making a goal-line clearance in the 1-1 draw against the league leader on Tuesday.
The Chelsea academy graduate joined Forest in 2023, following his release from Italian outfit Torino and could be set for a move back to the Serie A, just two years after leaving.
Roma’s interest in the Nigerian defender joins a list of interested clubs, with Premier League Champions Manchester City, and Turkish giants Galatasaray both interested in his signature.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Roma have made initial contact with Aina’s representatives, after failing to reach an agreement with Dutch side Ajax Amsterdam for young fullback Devyne Rensch.
Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City have also expressed their interest in the versatile defender, as he is seen as a suitable replacement for England international Kyle Walker, who is expected to leave the club having tendered in a transfer request.
Galatasaray are also yet to make an offer for the Nigerian, but they have previously shown interest in making a move for him.
With Aina’s deal expiring in six months, it remains to be seen if he favors a renewal at his current club, or embraces a move to a new team for a new challenge.
