West Bromwich Albion interim manager Chris Brunt, has stated that the impact of Nigerian forward Josh Maja will be missed, with the striker current sidelined with injury.
In a statement released by the Championship side, the 26-year old is set to undergo surgery on an injury suffered to his lower leg and is expected to be out of action for about six weeks in what is a huge dent on the Baggies promotion quest.
“Josh Maja is expected to be out for several weeks after sustaining a lower leg injury. The 26-year-old striker will undergo surgery in the coming days, followed by a period of rehabilitation,” the club stated.
Chris Brunt who has been in charge of the club since former manager Carlos Corberan joined Valencia in December, confirmed that the Super Eagles striker will be missed during his extended time on the sideline.
“It’s not just his goals, it’s his overall play too,” Brunt said.
“After missing last year with two bad ankle injuries, he’s been in great form for us this season. It’s been well documented that we haven’t scored enough goals this season anyway, and to be without him now is a massive blow.”
Maja who has been in remarkable form this season, will be unavailable when West Brom who currently sit seventh in the English Championship and are currently in the hunt for promotion back to the Premier League after several seasons away, face Stoke City on Saturday.
