“A day I will never forget” – Marmoush delighted after completing £59 million move to Manchester City

Manchester City’s latest signing Omar Mamoush could not hide his delight after officially completing a £59 million move from German Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt in the ongoing winter transfer window.

Marmoush is the third acquisition of City’s busy January window, with the signing of the Egyptian  coming after the reigning Premier League champions’ recruitment of defensive duo Abdoukodir Kushanov and Victor Reis from RC Lens and Palmieras respectively.

Prior to swapping Germany for England, Marmoush was enjoying the best-ever season of his career, with the 25-year-old boasting 15 goals and 10 assists in just 17 Bundesliga appearances for Frankfurt so far.

Speaking to Manchester City’s website following the club’s official confirmation of his arrival, Marmoush revealed that he could not resist the allure of linking up with City boss Pep Guardiola and playing for one of English football’s biggest clubs.

“This is a day I will never forget,” he said. “To sign for Manchester City – one of the best teams in the world – is an amazing feeling. I am delighted, my family are so proud, and we are all very happy to be here in Manchester.

“With Pep [Guardiola], his technical staff and the world-class facilities here, players have everything they need to improve. That was really enticing for me when I had the chance to come here.

“And I cannot deny I also want to win trophies. City have been the most successful club in England for many, many years, so I know I am joining a winning environment and winning culture. I want to learn from the staff and my teammates, and I want to become a valued member of this winning team.

“I really am looking forward to getting going, meeting the other players and showing the Manchester City fans what I can do.”
